Scarecrows Around Milford

Upon learning that the traditional Milford Pumpkin Festival onsite activities could not be held this year, the Milford Lions and Rotary Clubs wanted to be do something FUN for our community to help boost morale and community spirit.

Our clubs are collaborating on a “new” community service project – Scarecrows Around Milford. This is a spin on the usual scarecrow making activity at the Community House Lawn during Pumpkin Festival. Here’s the evolving plan:

1. The Milford Rotary and Lions Clubs will create 250 scarecrow making kits including the faces, internal posts, fasteners, patches and instructions.

2. Kits will be available FREE to Milford residents, families and local businesses via drive-through pick-up sessions the first weekend in October. First come, first served. Families/households and businesses can have more than one kit. We hope everyone will use them to tell “a story” with the scarecrows…..”a Milford story”, “a Souhegan Valley story”, a fun story or creative display….….well, you get the idea.

3. Our hope is that everyone will have their scarecrow stories displayed by Wednesday 10/14 so that location maps can be shared and judging can happen between 10/15-17. Prizes will be awarded and we hope to get some Facebook Live and other media coverage.

Milford Lions and Milford Rotarians are looking forward to collaborating on this "new" community service project. Can we count on you and your family or company to help us ignite some community spirit during this fall season? With your help, we can create some visual but "distanced" Community FUN in Milford! And this is a great way to show your support for our community!
